Peace Trot practice runs 2017
Built within the hills of Eastern Ithaca, the Cornell Arboretum offers an array of brilliant gardens, grand arboretums, calming ponds, and inviting woodlands. A network of both paved and unpaved trails runs throughout this charmed landscape, welcoming people to explore and engage with their surroundings. These trails are the site of the annual Peter DeMott Peace Trot, a five kilometer (3.1 mile) run organized in memory of the local peace activist Peter DeMott. This year the event will be held on June 18th. The race organizers would like to welcome you to weekly group runs starting Thursday May 4 and continuing past the race day and into the summer. We will meet early evening, 5:15, every Thursday at the Sculpture Garden in the Arboretum, which can be accessed from Forest Home Drive or Arboretum Road. All ages and running abilities are welcome! We can practice running the Peace Trot course or we can explore the numerous trails throughout the Botanic Gardens. Please contact Tom Joyce 277-7426, firstname.lastname@example.org, or Steve Vanek 272-0910, email@example.com and let us know if the Arboretum is an inconvenient place for you.
