Ellen Grady says, "In the last couple years I have only been able to walk the Peace Trot because of an injury that has now healed. I have decided to train to run this year's Trot. So now, with eight weeks to go, I'm going from couch to 5K! Today, the first day of my training, the recommendation was to do 6 one-minute runs interspersed with 1 1/2 minute walks, with a 5-minute warm-up and 5-minute cool down. It felt good to start. It also occurred to me while I was running that the United States is spending $100,000 a minute on building new nuclear weapons while we sit on a stockpile of 5,800 warheads already...so in the 25 minutes that I was working out, we spent $2,500,000 on building new nuclear weapons." |
