Running at the Arboretum on Tuesday evening reminded me of why so many of us enjoy running in nature. While it was brisk and cooler, once the runners get moving you do warm up; our little portable heating systems quickly kick into gear. Myself, Jimmy and Finian went through the course and after we made it up that final hill, it became blustery with blowing rain. Luckily it wasn’t really cold and the rain was more of a sprinkle. But it was just enough to feel the energy in the air and the goodness of running down the pathway to the ponds. Then low and behold as we were doing our final stretches, the sun came out from the clouds and all was right in the world. Runners are an optimistic bunch!
We’re going to be running on Tuesdays, at 5:15 pm, until the Peace Trot on June 21. We meet at the ponds, across from the sculpture garden. Come and join us; all levels of runners are welcome. Last week, when I was still feeling sickly, I walked around the Arboretum. That was great, too.
