Peace Trot 2011 Thank You Letter & Results
Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for being part of the incredible day. We couldn't have asked for better weather, we had a great team of people working together, and everyone came with such great spirit.
But even with all that wonderfulness, there were a few snafus and we want to apologize because the race times were thrown off because of a couple different factors: confusion with the race route, and confusion with what to do with the race number stubs.
We apologize for not being clear with all of this at the beginning. It is our intention to correct those problems for the next trot.
Because of confusion at the last turn toward the finish line, a lot of runners left the run course at that point. In fact, many runners finishing #2 through we're not sure when ended up running slightly further, coming into the finish line from the wrong direction. And some went past the finish line and ran a lot further. (In the spirit of Peter De Mott.) There was a period when we had runners entering the finish line from both directions! This made it very difficult for our timers and race # pullers to get an accurate order of finish. In fact, by strict race standards, our only official time is for the winner (17:07). Congratulations to Andris Goncarovs for defending his Peace Trot title and lowering his finish time by 39 seconds from 2010.
The race order listed is our best effort at listing every one's time. We know that most of you are not overly concerned about your time, but that it is meaningful to many. We wish we had gotten it better and intend to do so in the future.
Again, we want to thank everyone for all the effort that was put into making this memorial time and fundraiser a success so that we can continue on with the work of the Ithaca Catholic Worker.
